Designing templates for a LinkedIn quick share

If you have chosen to use the quick share feature on LinkedIn due to its efficiency for your stakeholders, it is essential to not only provide captivating suggested post text and clear metadata but also to implement necessary design adjustments.

Keep in mind that the images created with the adjustments outlined below will be used on Facebook and WhatsApp as well and opting for the curated share option for speaker and exhibitor campaigns still might be the option.

If you decide to use the quick share feature for speaker and exhibitor campaigns, you should take into consideration the following:

  1. Amount of text - determine the key information to display while considering what can be omitted from the template. Given the limited size of the thumbnails during the preview, prioritize essential elements such as the session title and speaker name, allowing the visual aspects to take prominence.
  2. Images - as noted above, emphasizing the visual elements of the templates while minimizing text is essential for making a strong impact in the limited space available. We advise against using templates without headshots for this reason. However, if you can create a visually appealing, on-brand background that can be utilised across all stakeholders, concealing headshots and logos while retaining key text may be an effective approach.
  3. Positioning of the elements - it's important to carefully consider the arrangement of individual elements on your template to enhance visibility. By editing individual templates, you can create cohesive designs for both single and multi-panel speakers. Positioning key elements, such as the headshot or logo, along with the session title and call to action (CTA) at the centre of the template minimizes the risk of these elements being cut off. Centering these components also effectively directs your audience's attention, making the overall design more impactful.

We have created example templates that incorporate the three key points discussed, demonstrating how to effectively enhance the visual impact of your images, even when working with LinkedIn's limited thumbnail size.

While we recommend using the Curated Share option for your speaker and exhibitor campaigns as a best practice, the templates provided below will also assist you in achieving a strong visual presence using the Quick Share feature.

For detailed, step-by-step guidance on how to implement these templates, please refer to the instructions available in the product for each template.

Single speaker

For the single-speaker template, we have created two options: one that includes their name and another that does not. If the post is shared from the speaker's personal social media account, their name will automatically be displayed, making the inclusion of their name in the template unnecessary.

1 speaker V2 (with logo)1 speaker V1 (with logo)

To create each of those templates you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Hide the following elements from the template via the Edit Theme menu:
    1. Schedule text
    2. Speaker job title
    3. Speaker company
    4. Speaker name (if you want to hide all of their details)
  2. Within the template editor:
    1. Centre align the text and adjust the size of both session title & speaker details (however, be mindful of how long your session titles are and leave necessary space so it doesn't look too small)
    2. Use the centre align button to position the session title, speaker headshot, speaker name and CTA button in the centre of the template.

Panels of up to three speakers

For sessions featuring panels of up to three speakers, we have created three template examples: one that includes full speaker details, one with just the speaker names, and another that combines names with job titles. You can select the option that best meets your needs, such as using the speaker's name along with their company name instead of their job title.

3 speakers V1 (with logo)3 speakers V1 (Name, title & company) (with logo) (1)

To create each of those templates you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Hide the following elements from the template via the Edit Theme menu (unless you want to keep all of the speaker details, only schedule text needs hiding):
    1. Schedule text
    2. Speaker job title
    3. Speaker company
  2. Within the template editor:
    1. Centre align the text and adjust the size of both session title & speaker details (however, be mindful of how long your session titles are and leave necessary space so it doesn't look too small)
    2. Use the centre align button to position the session title, speaker 2 headshot and full details and CTA button in the centre of the template.
    3. Adjust the size of the speaker 2 headshot and details to make sure it fits nicely within the template
    4. Position the speaker 1 & 3 headshot and full details on each side of speaker 2 and change manually width and height to make sure they are the same size
    5. Use the Align objects section to align the elements and place them correctly on the template

4 and 5 speaker panels

For sessions that include panels of four or five speakers, we provide two different template examples. Both templates feature the session title and speaker names but differ in layout with the second one being 3/2 with the call to action button hidden. Please note that the CTA is for illustrative purposes only, and the entire image is clickable.

To create each of those templates you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Hide the following elements from the template via the Edit Theme menu:
    1. Schedule text
    2. Speaker job title
    3. Speaker company
    4. CTA button (if you want to create the split layout template)
  2. For the one-line layout, you will need to follow the up to 3 speakers panel and adapt to more images.
  3. For the split layout you will need to follow the steps below within the template editor :
    1. Centre align the text and adjust the size of both the session title & speaker name (however, be mindful of how long your session titles are and leave necessary space so it doesn't look too small)
    2. Use the centre align button to position the session title, speaker 2 headshot and name in the centre of the template.
    3. Adjust the size of the speaker 2 headshot and name to make sure it fits nicely within the template
    4. Position the speaker 1 & 3 headshot and name on each side of speaker 2 and change manually width and height to make sure they are the same size
    5. Position the speaker 4 & 5 headshot and name underneath the speaker 1, 2 & 3
    6. Use the Align objects section to align the elements and place them correctly on the template (as you will see in the video, it might take a few attempts to get them aligned perfectly)
