Switching on Advanced mode

  1. Open one image in the editor. Please see Editing your images
  2. Switch on Advanced mode at the top of the page
  3. The first time, you will see You're entering advanced mode. Click Continue to switch it on, or Cancel to stay in Basic mode

Note: You’re only asked the first time in a session. Switching it off is immediate and keeps your changes.

Note: The editor opens in Basic mode each time you open a design from the set view or the asset’s page. Moving to another design with the strip under the image keeps Advanced mode on.

What Advanced mode unlocks

Everything you can do in Basic mode, plus:

  • Adding text, images and shapes
  • Changing the order of elements
  • Changing what a text says, and inserting fields
  • Setting up what people are asked, and a photo’s placeholder
  • An image’s Scaling, Shape and Corner radius
  • Changing values the set controls, for every image or for one image only

Note: Elements can be hidden, but not deleted, in either mode.

Adding text

  1. Switch on Advanced mode
  2. In the toolbar under the image, click Add text
  3. If your template uses more than one font, click a font under Choose a font
  4. Choose how it’s filled in:
    1. Fixed: the same for everyone — you set the content now
    2. Personalisable: each person fills this in themselves
  5. For Fixed, click Dynamic field and choose a field, such as the speaker’s name, or click Custom text and enter it under Text
  6. For Personalisable, set up the question people will answer
  7. Click Add text

Please keep in mind that you choose Fixed or Personalisable once, when you add the element. To change it later, please hide the element and add a new one.

Note: Dynamic field only appears when the design has fields to offer. A design that isn’t linked to speaker or exhibitor data offers none, and has a Start a new asset link.

Adding an image

  1. Switch on Advanced mode
  2. In the toolbar under the image, click Add image
  3. Choose Fixed or Personalisable
  4. For Fixed, click Dynamic field and choose a field, such as the speaker’s headshot, or click Upload and choose a file, or click Choose from library
  5. For Personalisable, set up what people are asked, and choose a placeholder
  6. Click Add image

If a new fixed image can’t be added, you will see the message Couldn’t add the image. Try again, or choose a different one.

Adding a shape

  1. Switch on Advanced mode
  2. In the toolbar under the image, click Add shape
  3. Click Rectangle, Ellipse or Line

The shape is added straight away, in the middle of the image.

Changing the order of elements

Elements at the top of Layers are in front.

  • Drag an element by its grip in Layers
  • Or select it and use the Order buttons under Position and Layout: Bring to front, Bring forward, Send backward, Send to back

The Background always stays at the back.

Changing what a text says

Click a fixed text. In Advanced mode, Content becomes a text editor:

  • Type to change the words
  • Click Insert field, or type {{, to add a field such as the speaker’s name or a session title
  • Select words or a field to style them on their own: Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Text colour, Highlight. Clear formatting removes it

For a personalisable text, enter what the editor shows in its place under Preview text. Only you see it; people see their own answer.

Setting up what people are asked for their words

  1. Click a personalisable text, such as a quote
  2. Switch on Advanced mode
  3. Click Edit speaker form (or Edit exhibitor form, Edit attendee form)

You can set:

  • The Question to ask the speaker
  • The Placeholder shown when the answer box is empty
  • The Character limit
  • Suggested answers: enter a Button label and the Suggested answer, then click Add suggestion

The preview beside the form shows what people will see. Click Save changes to keep your changes, then Save on the page.

Setting up a personalisable photo

  1. Click a personalisable photo
  2. Switch on Advanced mode
  3. Click Edit speaker form (or Edit exhibitor form, Edit attendee form)

You can set:

  • The question you ask
  • The Photo sources: Upload from device and Take a selfie, and in attendee campaigns Import from LinkedIn
  • The Upload button text, Selfie button text and LinkedIn button text
  • Whether to Remove background

Click Save changes to keep your changes.

Note: At least one photo source must stay selected. Import from LinkedIn is only available for photos up to 350px, and can’t be used with Remove background.

The placeholder

The image shows a placeholder until each person adds their own photo. Under Placeholder, click one of our placeholders, such as Headshot, Full body or Logo, or Upload your own.

Please keep in mind that on a speaker or exhibitor asset, the placeholder belongs to the set, so changing it changes it on every design that uses it.

Image scaling, shape and corners

Click an image. In Advanced mode, under Appearance:

  • Scaling: Fill fills the box and trims what doesn’t fit, which is how images start. Fit shows the whole image inside its box
  • Shape: Rectangle or Ellipse
  • Corner radius: rounds a rectangle’s corners. Switch on Independent corners to set each one

Changing values the set controls

On a speaker or exhibitor asset, some values on a design come from the set. In Advanced mode, you can change them here:

  • To change it for every image, change the value. It’s marked Changes all images
  • To give this image its own value, click the link button (Use a value just here), then change it
  • To go back to the set’s value, click the link button again (Follow the set again)

An element the set shows or hides on every image can be shown or hidden here too. Click its eye in Layers to change it on every image, or click the ⋯ button next to it, then Hide on this image only (or Show on this image only). To follow the set again, click ⋯, then Follow the set again.

Note: A change to a set value isn’t part of the Undo history. Click Discard to drop it.
